Sell books online

By Samo Yanezic

If you want to sell books online successfully, you should have a love of two things, which are books and money. You dont have to be a book expert to sell books over the internet, but if you have a general interest in books, it will go a long way towards success. In addition, if you like to make money, you'll be motivated to sell good books, and if you do a little research, you'll find out what the best ones are. I've made a few dollars selling books online myself, and it's become something of a hobby for me.

I remember the first book I sold online. I was working in auto sales at the time, and I noticed a salesman cleaning out his desk because he was leaving the business. He handed me a book on how to sell cars that he had bought at a seminar, and said, Maybe this can help you make some money. It didnt help me at all. I took the book, listed it on eBay, and it sold for 75 bucks! The book did help me make money, just not in car sales.

I was pretty lucky with that one. While you are looking for books to sell online, dont expect to find the Holy Grail of books right off the bat. If you buy a book for a dollar and sell it for two fifty, you have made a hundred and fifty percent profit!

Ive found quite a few good places to buy books that I can turn online for a profit. Thrift stores are amazing. Their stock is always changing from week to week, and sometimes you can find a rare gem. The paperbacks sell from anywhere around 50 cents to a dollar, and hardbacks rarely go for over five dollars. Yard Sales are also a great place to find cheap books. A relative of mine was able to find a first edition Mothman Prophesy for a buck, and she sold it on eBay for over eighty dollars. You can even find books at bookstores you can turn for a profit once you get a little experience.

When you sell books online, the type of book you choose to sell is entirely up to you. Most of the good profits I have made came from selling informational type books, such as owner manuals and how to books. If you are thinking about doing this for a living and not just a hobby, it makes sense for you to specialize in a type of book that you enjoy. That way, you have a knowledge and a passion for what you are selling, and that will come across to the buyer.

Avoid buying book club edition books. They're just reader copies and not worth anything on the market. Books that are over 50 years old with dust jackets are almost always at least somewhat valuable, and first edition books are going to be your most profitable. Second edition books do sell, but you will make the most profit by selling first edition books.

Places you can sell books: Ive mentioned eBay quite a bit, because it is where I sell most of the books I buy. Its not the only site on the web, however. Amazon and Craigs list are also good sites to sell books.

As you get better at this, you'll find more sites you can sell on, and eventually you can make some really good money. It really is very easy to sell books online, and its fun to do as well. Good luck and good selling! - 20767
